Biography

Longtime La Vergne resident Jason Cole was elected as Alderman in November 2016. Prior to this, he had served on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board helping to develop the La Vergne Farmers Market and the initial phases of the Veteran’s Memorial Wall.  He also served as the Vice-Chair of the Beer Board before being elected to office.

As an Alderman, he has served as Chairman of the Local Emergency Planning Committee helping to development, implementation, and evaluation of the Emergency Plan for La Vergne.  As Chairman of the Greenway Advisory Committee, he helped to oversee the completion of the Hurricane Creek Greenway which opened in August 2018. 

During his term as Alderman, Mr. Cole received certificates for completing Elected Officials Academy levels I & II as well a Utility Board Training through MTAS.  In 2018, he was invited to participate in the Local Government Leadership Program, which brings together city and county officials from across the state to participate in special leadership training.

In 2018, Mr. Cole was elected to the office of Mayor in La Vergne.  He ran on responsible spending, economic outreach, and an open and transparent government.  He now serves as the Chairman of the Economic Advisory Committee and is on the Planning Commission. 

Mr. Cole is married to Bridget Cole and together they have two children, Desmond and Carly.  The Cole family attends church at World Outreach Church and each month Mr. Cole hosts community meetups at various locations across the city.  He attended Nashville State attended Nashville State Community College, majoring in Business Management.
