David McGowen is currently the director of parks and recreation for the City of La Vergne, supervising the maintenance department as well as the La Vergne Senior Center.
David grew up in La Vergne and attended the old La Vergne Primary School as well as Waldron Jr. High School. He graduated from Smyrna High School in 1985 and has a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with minors in Aerospace Administration and Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University.
After working for American Airlines, Bridgestone, and owning Yard Dawgs Lawn Services, he began working for the City of La Vergne in July 2011. He later became the parks director in August 2019.
David and his wife Denise have two children and attend World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro.
