[ARCHIVED] Drought Updated to Phase 2 Alert for the City of La Vergne

The city of La Vergne is currently experiencing a D-2 Severe Drought according to the National Drought Mitigation Center. The La Vergne Public Works department says the scarce level of precipitation Middle Tennessee has been experiencing has caused for the phase 2 alert.

At this time, La Vergne Public Works would like to notify the citizens. The city of La Vergne is asking everyone to conserve water by stopping all non-essential uses. Non-essential uses are list below as Category 1 for this level of drought response. At this time, we ask for your help in efforts to conserve water by stopping non-essential water uses listed in Category 1.

The following uses are declared to be non-essential uses during a Phase - 2 Voluntary Water Reduction. Category 1 consists of:

- Washing sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, tennis courts, patios or other exterior paved areas, except by the City for the public safety.

- Filling or refilling a swimming pool.

- Noncommercial washing of privately owned motor vehicles, trailers and boats.

- Any use of water from a fire hydrant except for fighting fires, or use by the Town.

- Watering of lawns, gardens, landscaped areas, trees, shrubs or other plants.

- Use of water for dust control or compaction during construction.
