The back to school shopping season is right around the corner and to help families this weekend will be tax free on many items you’ll need for the new school year.
The annual sales tax holiday will be Friday, July 28 through Sunday July 30. Non-exempt items include clothing or school and art supply items more than $100, jewelry, handbags, and recreational equipment. Computers, laptops, and tablets only qualify for the tax exemption if they are $1,500 or less.
There will also be a grocery tax free holiday this year. Food and food ingredients will be tax exempt beginning August 1 and ending October 31. Sales of prepared food, dietary supplements, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco are not included in this grocery tax free holiday.
