On September 20, 2019 La Vergne police officers arrested two teenagers accused of robbing a woman during an online sale transaction.

At 9:30 a.m. the suspects, Jadarian Marble (18) and Tyler Benjamin (18), went to the victim’s house in the Lake Forest subdivision to purchase a MacBook Pro. They had connected with the victim on an online sale site and had been talking for several days before agreeing to the sale.

After arriving, the victim told police one of the suspects grabbed the computer from her and ran out of the house. When she went after him she claims the other suspect produced a firearm and told her, “you’ve been ripped” before exiting the house. The victim was able to get the license plate number before the two fled in a white car. Once she notified police, officers in the area quickly spotted the car and arrested the teenagers at the TigerMart on Murfreesboro Road. Officers found the victim’s computer and a gun in the vehicle.

Marble and Benjamin were transported to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. Charges are pending.

It is always safest to meet in a public place when conducting an online sale. Chief Walker welcomes anyone conducting online sales to use the parking lot in front of the Police Department at 5093 Murfreesboro Road as a safe place for transactions.
