City offices will be closed on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. This will ensure that anyone who works for the city will be able to attend the funeral if they desire.
Teams from Lawrenceburg, Mt. Juliet, WEMA and Lebanon will be providing fire services in the city during various times on Tuesday and Wednesday to allow everyone in our fire department to attend.
Visitation
Chief McCormick’s visitation will be Tuesday, August 21st from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Highland Heights Church of Christ, 785 S Lowry Street, Smyrna, TN 37167.
Funeral
The funeral, also held at Highland Heights Church of Christ, will be Wednesday, August 22nd at 10:00 a.m.
Procession
Following the service, the procession will take Chief McCormick through the heart of the city one final time. The route is as follows:
- South Lowry Street / North Lowry Street
- Sam Ridley Parkway
- Old Nashville Highway
- Buchanan Street
- Old Waldron Road
- Waldron Road
- Murfreesboro Road / North Lowry Street
- Jefferson Street
- Maple Street
The city encourages any citizens wanting to line the streets in honor of Chief McCormick to stick to the Murfreesboro Road portion of the route. We expect the procession to reach Murfreesboro Road around noon.
Burial
The public is also invited to attend Chief McCormick's burial service, which will include full honors, at Mapleview Cemetery, 411 Maple St, Smyrna, TN 37167.
