[ARCHIVED] Club Plants New Trees at High School

Tree Planting

More than a dozen high school students spent a few hours after school Thursday planting two new trees near the front of La Vergne High School.

The teens who participated were just a few of the 51 students involved in the La Vergne Interact Club, which is part of the Smyrna Rotary Club. Stephanie Black, one of the program’s external advisors, says the tree planting was part of their core goals, which includes “Growing Local Economies.”

Mayor Dennis Waldron, along with former Postmaster and La Vergne Mayor A.C. Puckett, and Smyrna Rotary President Dewayne Sadler were all on hand to help with the tree planting.

Both trees were donated to the club from Lowe’s Home Improvement.
