The La Vergne Public Library is one of the cultural centers of the La Vergne community. It provides a variety of activities and services for all ages. The friendly, knowledgeable staff manage free library programs for patrons of all ages.

The La Vergne Public Library has more than 70,000 items available for check out - books, audio books, DVDs, and music CDs. Books include fiction, non-fiction and juvenile reading materials. Newspaper subscriptions include 2 local papers, the New York Times, and Wall Street Journal. More than 70 weekly and monthly magazines are also available for patrons.

The library has a broad range of specialized materials available in multiple formats, including:
  • 29 Computer Stations
  • Exam Proctoring
  • Full Teacher Center
  • Help for Homeschooling
  • Spanish Language for Adults and Children
In addition, the following is also offered to the public: The library offers interactive story times for babies, toddlers and preschool-aged children (the schedules can be picked up in the library or viewed online) which include stories, music and other activities.

Library Card Registration

To register for a Library Card, one must show proof of current mailing address and a photo I.D.

Example: Tennessee Driver's License, utility bill, or checkbook.

A telephone number is also required.

To obtain a Juvenile Library Card, the parent or legal guardian must have a current La Vergne Public Library Card.

The first library card is issued free of charge.  A $5.00 replacement fee will be charged for the next card issued.

Other La Vergne Public Library highlights include the card catalog, the Heritage Quest database, and the Google Virtual Tour, all available online.

Every year the library hosts a Summer Reading and Activities Program which allows school-aged children, teens, and adults to enjoy reading and library activities during the summer months. Other special programs - including the Magic of Santa at Christmas and Gross Grub at Halloween - take place throughout the year.
