The Parks and Recreation Department offers numerous programs and activities and provides safe, well-organized facilities for residents to use and enjoy.
The city has 5 beautiful parks. Four of them have picnic facilities, 2 have playgrounds, 1 is designed as a community garden, and another is open creek-side green space that is dedicated to soccer.
In addition to the state-of-art outdoor parks, the city also takes pride in our indoor facilities. The Civic Auditorium was previously a combined grammar and high school before becoming exclusively a grammar school.
The original building burned, then was rebuilt as an elementary block school - which also burnt in 1961. Students then attended school at the barracks of Sewart Air Force Base while the county built LaVergne Primary School on Stones River Road.
The Men's Club - in turn - rebuilt the Civic Auditorium into the beautiful building it is today to be used for civic functions and programs.
The Multipurpose Building in Bicentennial Park is available for rental, but also used for special classes including baton twirling, summer camp, and more.
The Parks and Recreation Department offers a multitude of wonderful activities for all age levels. We hope to count you in as a program participant!
